Insar Imaging of London Surface Movement for Structural Damage Management and Water Resource Conservation

چکیده
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Interferometry (InSAR), using data from the European Space Agency satellites ERS1 and ERS2, is being used to image, survey and map surface movement of the London region. Local and regional movement due to shrink and swell of the London Clay geology, tunnelling, and possibly ground water abstraction has been investigated here for the first time by InSAR. Cyclic annual clay shrink/swell of < 50mm causes widespread structural damage to buildings and infrastructure and is a major cause of water main bursts. The phenomenon is well recognised but variability of the actual surface movement across the London Clay has not been comprehensively surveyed before. Ongoing research will produce the first regional shrink/swell maps and model the phenomenon to benefit a diversity of end users and the region’s economy. In particular, engineering solutions may be focused where high shrink/swell susceptibility is identified to efficiently target water main bursts and so conserve water resources.

Combining Structural and Non-Structural Measures for Optimal Management of Urban Surface Runoff Collection (Case Study: Ariafar Bridge in Mianroud Canal)
Today, various structural and non-structural solutions are used to control and reduce the negative effects of floods in investigation and executive projects. But what is certain is that the optimal solution to minimize flood damage is a combination of structural and non-structural methods (planning and response measures). It is essential to provide these solutions in a metropolis like Tehran be...

The conservation of lakes is an essential issue in sustainable development. Disruption of ecological balance, destruction of biodiversity and vegetation, desertification, and storm surges are the results of lakes drying. The purpose of this paper is to introduce an integrated bi-objective sustainable water resource management model. The first objective function deals with economically optimal a...

This short literature review argues that the Resource-Based View (RBV) school of strategic management has recently become of increased interest to scholars of healthcare organizations. RBV links well to the broader interest in more effective Knowledge Mobilization (KM) in healthcare. The paper outlines and discusses key concepts, texts and authors from the RBV tradition and gives recent example...
